Post Combine Mock Draft

1.) Cleveland Browns

Name
Myles Garret
Position
Defensive end
Height
6'5"
Weight
269 lbs
College
Texas A&M

From a numbers perspective Myles Garrett would of needed to do something catastrophic to miss out on being the first player drafted.  However, that wasnt the case at the 2017 Combine.  Garrett showed up and simply put on a show proving he is the best player in this class.  Not only that but he also addressed the media to apologize about his comments about a potential Dallas trade.

 2.) San Francisco 49ers

Name
Jonathan Allen
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
290
College
Alabama

Jonathan Allen has been all over the top 10 in recent mocks due to the news of having arthritis in his left shoulder.  Teams got a chance to check him over last weekend at the NFL Combine and from what it seems, his shoulder should be just fine.  Allen also addressed the media and doubled up by saying he and his shoulder feel great and even started that he feels the best he’s felt in his whole life.

3.) Chicago Bears

Name
DeShaun Watson
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 2"
Weight
210
College
Clemson

Chicago is another team that can go in any number of directions with the 3rd pick.  Personally, I feel there needs to be a lot more pieces in place before throwing a rookie QB into the fold but Watson is the type of guy that is now a hot commodity coming off a great combine performance.  Until some of these quarterbacks that are rumored to be drafted/cut I’m going to leave my projections as if these teams need to draft a QB.

4.) Jacksonville Jaguars

Name
Solomon Thomas
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Stanford

Fournette? No. Jacksonville has said they need to improve the running game before Blake Bortles can improve even with Leonard Fournette still on the board, I believe they try to better that running game by investing in the O-line.

The Jaguars had a lot of mediocre depth on the defensive line which didnt help them at all tally up the sacks and INTs last year.  Sen’derrick Marks and Tyson Alualu look to be on a new team in 2017, leaving only Malik Jackson and Sheldon Day, who is a second year rookie, at the 3 technique.  This tells me that they are either targeting someone in free-agency or have Allen and Thomas atop their draft boards for immediate help getting pressure on that D-line.

 5.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Jamal Adams
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
211
College
LSU

Tennessee is said to be needing WR’s but I think they’ll do some work in free agency to fill those voids.  That Titan secondary needs help the most out of any unit on the team.  Jamal Adams is an immediate defensive leader. He can step in and play all over the field from that strong safety spot. Many see Adams as a mirror image of Eric Berry.

6.) New York Jets

Name
Leonard Fournette
Position
Running back
Height
6' 1"
Weight
235
College
LSU

The Jets have been making some rather big moves this off-season by releasing Brandon Marshall, Nick Mangold, and possibly Eric Decker.  This leaves that offense looking pretty poor.  I thought at one point they’d take a QB here but with no tight end and back up wide receivers, it would be a bad idea to plug in a rookie QB. With all that being said, Leonard Fournette could be that gateway into rebuilding that offense.  He weighed in at 240 and still ran a 4.5, showing he is physical beast. Pairing Fournette with Matt Forte would be a great way to wean him into the NFL.

7.) Los Angeles Chargers

Name
Malik Hooker
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
202
College
Ohio State

With Gus Bradley taking over as the new defensive coordinator, he’ll likely want to switch back to his 4-3/Tampa 2 defense.  If thats the case, Bradley relies heavy on a deep FS responsible of playing center field. We’ll see at the combine this week just how fast Hooker can run and just how high he can jump. This kid screams FS, however can he keep his mind in the game and not walk away.

 8.) Carolina Panthers

Name
Marshon Lattimore
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
195
College
Ohio State

If Fournette falls to Carolina I’ll be shocked! Assuming he does not, I see Carolina passing on a RB and taking the best CB available. After losing Josh Norman, that Panther defense took a huge step back.  Lattimore gives them that same play style of Norman.  Carolina needs a #1 corner as they will be responsible of covering Julio Jones, Mike Thomas, and Mike Evans 6 times a year.

9.) Cincinnati Bengals

Name
Forrest Lamp
Position
Offensive guard
Height
6' 4"
Weight
305
College
Western Kentucky

This may be my boldest pick in this mock.  But Cincy still has to pay Andrew Whitworth and are expected to loose Kevin Zeitler to free agency, that a lot to lose on the offensive line with no replacements. Lamp as shown to be a really good guard prospect and with how the Bengals run that offense he will be vital to opening up that run game.

10.) Buffalo Bills

Name
DeShone Kizer
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 4"
Weight
230
College
Notre Dame

It seems that Tyrod Taylor may be out of Buffalo with shown interest from the Browns. He’s also due 27.5 million so all signs lead me to believe he’ll be somewhere new in 2017. I’m not convinced that Cardale Jones is ready to be a starter yet so Kizer may be look at to come in and take charge of that offense right away.

 11.) New Orleans Saints

Name
Derek Barnett
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Tennessee

Even with an aging Brees, the Saints will be able to score points. Playing in the NFC South is all about trying to stop/slow down the other divisional offenses. They have started working towards building up the secondary in drafting Vonn Bell but its still far from good.  It’s hard to decide between a corner or pass rusher here but with Barnett still available and the deep stable of of corners, it makes sense to take a very good pass rusher who can play all 3 downs with Cam Jordan.

12.) Cleveland Browns

Name
Dalvin Cook
Position
Running back
Height
5' 11"
Weight
206
Past Teams
Florida State

I have a feeling Cleveland will try to find a quarterback via trade or free agency after passing on a QB last year for more draft picks.  Dalvin Cook can step in and help which ever QB comes to town.  He is an extension of the receiving corps as well as a lightning bolt in the running game.

13.) Arizona Cardinals

Name
O.J. Howard
Position
Tight end
Height
6' 4"
Weight
255
College
Alabama

This is another pick that keeps finding its way back to Arizona.  OJ Howard made it clear at the Combine that he is the best tight end in this class.  He is great in protection and clearly a monster in the receiving game.  I’m going to tag him with a future all-pro tag already.

 14.) Indianapolis Colts

Name
Cam Robinson
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
310
College
Alabama

Cam Robinson really impressed scouts at his Combine performance.  He’s expected to play either guard or RT where he fits best.  He has a lot of college tape against top notch pass rushers, Myles Garrett for one.  Robinson is a big, physical lineman capable to locking down whoever he lines up across from.

15.) Philadelphia Eagles

Name
Mike Williams
Position
Wide receiver
Height
6' 3"
Weight
225
College
Clemson

Many dont see Mike Williams falling this far, and no disrespect to him but this draft is so deep with defensive players.  With a second year rookie QB, they need to provide him some targets and eventually some help in the running game.  Williams is that immediate receiving help, especially in the redzone.

16.) Baltimore Ravens

Name
Sidney Jones
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
185
College
Washington

Sidney Jones needs to add some bulk but Baltimore needs a corner to cover Antiono Brown and AJ Green 4 times a year. They may also target a pass rusher here but my guess is they hope Tim Williams falls to them in the 2nd round. Jones may be small on paper but he plays a lot bigger than advertised with great footwork.

 17.) Washington Redskins

Name
Mitch Trubisky
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 3"
Weight
220
College
North Carolina

Until I hear something about Kirk Cousins staying in Washington, they will NEED a quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky may allow them to get their offense back to the system they ran when RGIII was in town.  This isnt a pick many mockers see coming but in the NFL Draft we all know its unpredictable.

18.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Corey Davis
Position
Wide receiver
Height
6' 3"
Weight
205
College
Western Michigan

Tennessee is sneaky good on offense but Corey Davis falling to them at 18 would be a match made in heaven.  We’ll see a lot of offensive talent drop in this draft due to the magnitude of good defensive players.

19.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Name
John Ross
Position
Wide receiver
Height
5' 11"
Weight
190
College
Washington

Tampa has plenty of big target options but lack some speed on the offensive end.  Teams know to send the house to cover Mike Evans but with the addition of John Ross, it could open up the deep route. Ross has great hands, route running ability, and of course, speed. Plenty of speed.

 20.) Denver Broncos

Name
Ryan Ramczyk
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
315
College
Wisconsin

Tony Romo? It doesnt matter, no quarterback will prevail in Denver until they get some protection. It just so happens that my #1 offensive lineman is still on my board at pick 20.  Ryan Ramczyk is strong at the point of attack and has the ability to turn defenders to open up running lanes as well as create a pocket for his quarterback.

21.) Detroit Lions

Name
Caleb Brantley
Position
Defensive tackle
Height
6' 2"
Weight
320
College
Florida

After losing Suh, the Lions still havent filled that hole. The addition of Ngata filled their 5 technique but still lack an interior pass rusher. Caleb Brantley is just that. He’s a guy you can give the keys to the 3 technique position and let him to go work. The more blockers it takes to stop him, will only open up the field for Ansah to get to the QB. Its rare to see a 315 lb lineman as the first one off the ball but thats not the case when Brantley is on the field.

22.) Miami Dolphins

Name
Reuben Foster
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 1"
Weight
240
College
Alabama

Miami proved their offense can drive with Adam Gase as the coach. The outside of the pass rush, their defense was the weak point of the team.  In years past middle linebacker was always a glaring hole and Miami has been known to accept troubled players. Foster not only had his scuffle with the medical staff at the Combine but he has quite the list of prior injuries and weight changes. Now set all that aside and he’s a top 5 pick. If Miami can curb his attitude and injuries they’ll get the steal of the draft. This is one guy that all teams will put on their radar now.

 23.) New York Giants

Name
Garett Bolles
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 5"
Weight
300
College
Utah

After spending over $200 million on defense last year, this pick has the look of an offensive player. Ereck Flowers turned out to be a dumpster fire who contributed to their 29th ranked rushing offense.  Garrett Bolles should win that starting LT position without a competition. He comes from a bad past including drug use and anger but thankfully he found his way and turned all that negativity into a controlled sense of nastiness on the football field.

24.) Oakland Raiders

Name
Marlon Humphrey
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 1"
Weight
195
College
Alabama

Many scouts say Oakland will be targeting defensive line or linebacker but sometimes you can run from overall value.  The Davis family loves speed and Humphrey’s has that. Sean Smith got paid in free agency last and found his way to the bench, telling me they are going to be looking for starting corners to bolster that defense.

25.) Houston Texans

Name
Malik McDowell
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 6"
Weight
280
College
Michigan State

It’s scary to think JJ Watt is nearing the end of his career. He’s hinted he doesnt know how long he has left to play and its no secret that his health is up and down.  Malik McDowell is very similar to Watt in size and play style.  This might be a perfect scenario to keep Clowney from getting double teams in football after JJ Watt.

 26.) Seattle Seahawks

Name
Teez Tabor
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
190
College
Florida

Ever since the Legion of Boom first got broke up, Seattle struggled to find a replacement at CB2.  Tabor might be that perfect replacement.  He has the ability to be a #1 CB if he works hard enough. Tabor’s speed isn’t elite but his instinct and ball skills are one to watch.

27.) Kansas City Chiefs

Name
Christian McCaffrey
Position
Running back
Height
6' 0"
Weight
205
College
Stanford

If Christian McCaffrey doesn’t scream “Andy Reid running back” I dont know who does. Kansas City thrives off quick, skat backs. McCaffrey is just as dangerous running up the middle as he is in the screen game. He only did 10 reps of 225 lbs at the Combine but showed great hips, hands, and feet proving he’s worth every ounce of a 1st round pick.

28.) Dallas Cowboys

Name
Taco Charlton
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 6"
Weight
270
College
Michigan

The Dallas pass rushers cannot stay out of trouble. Their offense is obviously set for a while, as well as their secondary. The secondary isn’t Hall of Fame worthy but they do the job.  Taco Charlton didnt show great speed at his 40 yard dash but he has a tool box of pass rush moves.

 29.) Green Bay Packers

Name
Takkarist Mckinley
Position
Outside linebacker, Defensive end
Height
6' 2"
Weight
265
College
UCLA

Green Bay simply loves pass rushers. I dont remember the last time they’re running defense was credible but I also don’t remember the last time teams didnt have to plan for their pass rush.  With Peppers on the way out and Clay Mathews wearing a huge question mark it might be a perfect time to invest in the young pass rusher from UCLA.

30.) Pittsburgh Steelers

Name
Budda Baker
Position
Safety
Height
5' 10"
Weight
180
College
Washington

This may come as a surprise to see an undersized safety on Pittsburgh’s defense but Budda Baker plays like linebacker.  He loves to blitz and is great covering tight ends.

31.) Atlanta Falcons

Name
Desmond King
Position
Cornerback, Safety
Height
5' 11"
Weight
200
College
Iowa

Desmond King is a guy that a lot of people have uncertainty with.  He played corner at Iowa as well as the Senior Bowl and showed some less than stellar tape.  However one thing you cannot deny is his open field tackling, ball skills, and explosiveness in the return game.  Atlanta might find a diamond in the rough as a FS in Mr. King.

32.) New England Patriots

Name
David Njoku
Position
Tight end
Height
6' 4"
Weight
245
College
Miami

David Njoku would be a perfect compliment to Gronk in the tight end room.  He doesnt have the mass that Gronk has to run block but Njoku is a mismatch nightmare in the passing game!

I’m still against a RB @12 for the Browns. Best DB available.

    • Mock Draft Central

Marlon Humphrey? Sidney Jones? Gareon Conley?

      • Sandra

Not Humphrey. Tabor/Wilson/White/Baker/Jones/Conley in no particular order

        • Mock Draft Central

I’m confident that at least one of those players will be there on to start the 2nd round. Especially after the Florida corners had underwhelming combines. Might be worth running that risk to add some offensive weapons

          • Sandra

Maybe, but who knows the Browns board. DB is the juncture of need and BPA. I’m guessing your next mock will have wholesale changes? I’m referring specifically to the medical reports on Allen and McKinley, Foster’s issues and Tim Williams failed drug tests.

          • Mock Draft Central

You got it, Allen doesn’t concern me much because his condition shouldn’t really kick in until later in life but whats really going to throw a loop in things is where some of the big name free agents go and what trades take place. Its looking like a wild week!

  • DaStrongSKRAWN

Because of clashing with medical staff and asserting his player status, Reuben falls all the way to 22? I’ll be happy with it but I don’t see it happening. Also don’t see Brown passing up on Howard or a CB at #12 for a RB. A later pick for RB is better with Crowell already there.
