Nick’s Over-reactive Mock Draft

1.) Cleveland Browns

Name
Jonathan Allen
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
290
College
Alabama

Myles Garrett is an unbelievable athlete and sack artist however I’ll go on record and say I think Jonathan Allen is a better all round defensive player. He creates pressure on almost every play and is an amazing run stopper.

 2.) San Francisco 49ers

Name
Davis Webb
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 5"
Weight
235
College
Cal

Davis Webb as the first QB taken?! Why not. From what I’ve seen on tape as well as the Senior Bowl, he looks to be the most polished passer available.

3.) Chicago Bears

Name
Mitch Trubisky
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 3"
Weight
220
College
North Carolina

Chicago is another team that can go in any number of directions with the 3rd pick.  Personally, I feel there needs to be a lot more pieces in place before throwing a rookie QB into the folder. However with a guy like Trubisky who will see his fair share of interceptions and sacks, why not feed him to the wolves and let him learn as the team builds. Trubisky has the ability and arm talent to drive the ball down the field for many years to come. I also expect him to be a “feast or famine” type of quarterback, as Brett Favre once was as well. Regardless of the rumors of getting Tony Romo, it would still be advantageous to draft a young quarterback.

4.) Jacksonville Jaguars

Name
Myles Garret
Position
Defensive end
Height
6'5"
Weight
269 lbs
College
Texas A&M

Slides of this magnitude do happen; Aaron Rodgers, Brady Quinn, Leonard Williams, Laremy Tunsil for example. Jacksonville needs a pass rusher, and bad. They seemed to have plans to target JPP and/or Melvin Ingram in free agency but both got hit with the tag. Dream scenario for the Jags.

5.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Jamal Adams
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
211
College
LSU

This may not be very over reactive simply because Tennessee’s defense is just that bad. Their offense did surprisingly well with a less than stellar receiving corps.

6.) New York Jets

Name
Garett Bolles
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 5"
Weight
300
College
Utah

Many do not view Bolles’ as high as I do. This kid is an absolute mauler and which ever direction New York plans to go with that offense, they need protection.

7.) Los Angeles Chargers

Name
Leonard Fournette
Position
Running back
Height
6' 1"
Weight
235
College
LSU

I understand they have Melvin Gordon but once he got hurt, the Chargers running game diminished. Why not build a 2 headed running system capable of running a game.

 8.) Carolina Panthers

Name
Reuben Foster
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 1"
Weight
240
College
Alabama

Luke Kuechley flirted with the idea of retiring, and also suffered a pretty nasty concussion last year. AJ Klien also hit free agency so plugging in an immediate replacment or running mate with Kuechley might be a darn good idea.

9.) Cincinnati Bengals

Name
Marshon Lattimore
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
195
College
Ohio State

The last time I remember Cincinnati with good corner was Jonathan Joseph and Leon Hall.  They need to get back those days.

10.) Buffalo Bills

Name
Teez Tabor
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
190
College
Florida

Buffalo seems to be just fine on offense but needs help in the secondary. Jalen Tabor is all over draft boards due to his off the field issues but much like Marcus Peters, someone is going to gamble on him and it will pay off. He has all the tools and skill sets to be a great NFL corner.

 11.) New Orleans Saints

Name
Malik Hooker
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
202
College
Ohio State

New Orleans is another team that seemingly cant stop a nose bleed on defense. They spent a lot of money on Jarius Byrd who didnt really pan out.

12.) New England Patriots

Trade from Cleveland – Pick #12 for Jimmy Garapollo
Name
O.J. Howard
Position
Tight end
Height
6' 4"
Weight
255
College
Alabama

Rather than trying a hand at Deshaun Watson, I think Cleveland will take the sure handed Jimmy G from New England. OJ Howard would be an absolute nightmare for defenses going against New England.  Any fan of the NFL knows how well the Patriots use tight ends, not to mention a monster like Howard.  As Voch Lombardi quoted, “he is an extension of the offensive line and an extension of the receiving corps”. This kid can set blocks as well as run routes like a wide receiver.

13.) Arizona Cardinals

Name
DeShone Kizer
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 4"
Weight
230
College
Notre Dame

Carson Palmer is 37 years old with little back up behind him. It might be time to focus on the next QB for Arizona.

 14.) Indianapolis Colts

Name
Ryan Ramczyk
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
315
College
Wisconsin

I dont care what way you look at it, Indy simply needs to figure out the Andrew Luck mystery. Might as well start with their terrible O-line.

15.) Philadelphia Eagles

Name
Dalvin Cook
Position
Running back
Height
5' 11"
Weight
206
Past Teams
Florida State

Its no secret that Philly would virtually hit the lottery with this pick.  Cook often times draws comparison to Jamal Charles who Doug Pederson used very well in KC.  No further explanation needed here. Dalvin Cook

16.) Baltimore Ravens

Name
Sidney Jones
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
185
College
Washington

Sidney Jones needs to add some bulk but Baltimore needs a corner to cover Antiono Brown and AJ Green 4 times a year. They may also target a pass rusher here but my guess is they hope Tim Williams falls to them in the 2nd round.

 17.) Washington Redskins

Name
Solomon Thomas
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Stanford

Kirk Cousins is staying and they need a lot of help on that D-line.

18.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Qunicy Wilson
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 1"
Weight
213
College
Florida

Tennessee keeps building that secondary.

19.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Name
Corey Davis
Position
Wide receiver
Height
6' 3"
Weight
205
College
Western Michigan

Mike Evans was a one man band last year, they need to get him some help.

 20.) Denver Broncos

Name
Cam Robinson
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
310
College
Alabama

No quarterback will prevail in Denver until they get some protection.

21.) Detroit Lions

Name
John Ross
Position
Wide receiver
Height
5' 11"
Weight
190
College
Washington

I get it, the Lions need help on defense but with a big arm like Stafford has finding him a deep threat might be a golden ticket.

22.) Miami Dolphins

Name
Jabrill Peppers
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
208
College
Michigan

Miami loves athletes, and Peppers is just that. Set aside his uncertainty of where to play. Just give him some pads and let him wreck stuff.

 23.) New York Giants

Name
Joe Mixon
Position
Running back
Height
6' 1"
Weight
225
College
Oklahoma

Take away his off the field altercation and Joe Mixon is a first round talent.  The Giants are said to go after AP but after spending $200+ million on defense it makes sense to look cheap.

24.) Oakland Raiders

Name
Zach Cunningham
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 4"
Weight
230
College
Vanderbilt

Oakland needs linebackers and gets a solid linebacker here. They’ll need to add some weight to him but Cunningham can do it all.

25.) Houston Texans

Name
Jourdan Lewis
Position
Cornerback
Height
5' 10"
College
Michigan

Houston loves corners with hands and always finds turnovers. Although Lewis is a smaller corner he is an interception master waiting to happen.

 26.) Seattle Seahawks

Name
Malik McDowell
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 6"
Weight
280
College
Michigan State

McDowell is a wrecking ball but can he stay healthy? Pete Carroll would say yes.

27.) Kansas City Chiefs

Name
TJ Watt
Position
Outside linebacker
Height
6' 5"
Weight
245
College
Wisconsin

For a team that loves pass rushers and getting sacks, I’d take a shot at a Watt brother too.

28.) Dallas Cowboys

Name
Derek Barnett
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Tennessee

Dallas can finally trust their offense to produce but they need to be able to stop teams late in playoff games. Derek Barnett should be that pressure guy.

 29.) Green Bay Packers

Name
Marlon Humphrey
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 1"
Weight
195
College
Alabama

Oh Green Bay, it seems they’re always taking corners and letting them walk. Here’s another that hopefully pans out this time.

30.) Pittsburgh Steelers

Name
David Njoku
Position
Tight end
Height
6' 4"
Weight
245
College
Miami

Jesse James is a decent tight end but imagine giving Big Ben a nasty pass catching tight end!

31.) Atlanta Falcons

Name
Desmond King
Position
Cornerback, Safety
Height
5' 11"
Weight
200
College
Iowa

Desmond King is a guy that a lot of people have uncertainty with.  He played corner at Iowa as well as the Senior Bowl and showed some less than stellar tape.  However one thing you cannot deny is his open field tackling, ball skills, and explosiveness in the return game.  Atlanta might find a diamond in the rough as a FS in Mr. King.

32.) New England Patriots

Name
Christian McCaffrey
Position
Running back
Height
6' 0"
Weight
205
College
Stanford

New England might be set at running back but Christian McCaffrey just fits the mold.
