2017 Final NFL Mock Draft

April 26, 2017

Alright ya’ll here it is, like many mock drafters this draft process has pushed us to the brink. With such uncertainy and smoke screen getting thrown all over, we’re back with our final mock. We apologize for the delay in posting but now the dust is settling and we’re getting a better idea of whats happening. We wish every team and fans the best of luck – happy drafting!

1.) Cleveland Browns

Name
Myles Garret
Position
Defensive end
Height
6'5"
Weight
269 lbs
College
Texas A&M

From a numbers perspective Myles Garrett would of needed to do something catastrophic to miss out on being the first player drafted.  However, that wasnt the case at the 2017 Combine.  Garrett showed up and simply put on a show proving he is the best player in this class.  Not only that but he also addressed the media to apologize about his comments about a potential Dallas trade. Cleveland still hasn’t made any progress towards this age old quarterback search but its comparing gold to grass to take a QB over best available in this draft.

 2.) San Francisco 49ers

Name
Leonard Fournette
Position
Running back
Height
6' 1"
Weight
235
College
LSU

The 49er’s haven’t made their selection any more clear through out this process but one thing remains the same. They need offense. I dont believe San Francisco is a team willing to trade out of the top 10 so I see them staying put and taking the best “game changer” available.  That player is Leonard Fournette.

3.) Chicago Bears

Name
Jamal Adams
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
211
College
LSU

Chicago may not be making good off season moves, especially signing Mike Glennon to a big deal and letting their only premier WR walk but this tells me they see some talent in this draft. I dont think that talent is in the form of a quarterback either.  Many teams are blowing smoke about quarterbacks but is there any fire to the smoke? I doubt it.

Chicago is known to be a defensive team and with that, I see them taking a general on the defensive side in Jamal Adams.

4.) *TRADE* Cleveland Browns

Name
Mitch Trubisky
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 3"
Weight
220
College
North Carolina

This is a very possible scenario as Cleveland is currently talking to almost all teams in the top 8 about a trade up to get, who we think is Mitchell Trubisky.  Jacksonville would love to trade back to target an offensive lineman.

The Browns are able to get the best player in this draft as well as the quarterback they pondered taking #1 overall. They also have 2 picks in the second around making this trade a lot easier to execute.

5.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Solomon Thomas
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Stanford

With the recent signing of Jonathan Cyprien, Tennessee seems to be preparing to either A.) miss out on Adams or B.) have their eye on someone else.  Either way with the rising Solomon Thomas this would be a best case scenario.  He can play at either DE or DT in all systems.

6.) New York Jets

Name
Marshon Lattimore
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 0"
Weight
195
College
Ohio State

So many analysts have the Jets looking to take a quarterback but at some point they have to pump the breaks on taking a quarterback every year.  Lattimore would be a vital piece to rebuilding that secondary.

7.) Los Angeles Chargers

Name
Malik Hooker
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
202
College
Ohio State

With Gus Bradley taking over as the new defensive coordinator, he’ll likely want to switch back to his 4-3/Tampa 2 defense.  If thats the case, Bradley relies heavy on the play a center field type free safety.  Malik Hooker is just that.  He’s battled some injuries this offseason which may drop his stock even more but as for now, Hooker will find a good home in LA (almost typed San Diego).

 8.) Caroliona Panthers

Name
Christian McCaffrey
Position
Running back
Height
6' 0"
Weight
205
College
Stanford

Carolina’s passing offense fell to 20th last year. I’ll join the hype train and agree McCaffrey would immediately boost that offense, specifically the passing game.

9.) Cincinnati Bengals

Name
Forrest Lamp
Position
Offensive guard
Height
6' 4"
Weight
305
College
Western Kentucky

This may be my boldest pick in this mock.  But Cincy lost Kevin Zeitler and Andrew Whitworth to free agency, thats a lot to lose on the offensive line with no replacements. Lamp may not be looked at highly but he dominated top tier schools as the top dog on that offensive line.  Very comparable to Zach Martin from Notre Dame.

10.) Buffalo Bills

Name
Jonathan Allen
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
290
College
Alabama

Many mockers are putting a QB here but realistically the Bills would not have gone through all that work and wait to keep Tyrod on the roster if they had other plans.  Additionally, Cardale Jones seems to be progressing fine as the next man up under center.

Now we’re going to start sensing some slides in the draft due to teams reaching for players. Buffalo loves to win in the trenches and Allen can provide just that.

 11.) New Orleans Saints

Name
Derek Barnett
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
270
College
Tennessee

I have a feeling this whole draft is going to be a mud slide. New Orleans needs to start looking at quarterbacks after Brees, but ultimately need help all over that defense.  With no timetable on how much Brees has left, I don’t see the value in drafting a QB in the first round.  Chase Daniel should provide enough of a back up roll to bridge NO to their next quarterback to come.  For now, Barnett is a plug and play pass rusher to help Cam Jordan.

12.) *TRADE*Jacksonville Jaguars

Name
Cam Robinson
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
310
College
Alabama

This would be a dream scenario for both the Jaguars and their fans.  There’s no sense in reaching for Watson at 4 and with Fournette gone at 2 this allows the Jags to build up more picks and still locking up a pick of their liking.  Only 2 players of the 22 brought into Jacksonville, held an interview as well as a private workout.  Those players are Cam Robinson and Nathan Peterman.  The Jags know they need to protect Bortles as well as get the running game going.  They traded for Brandon Albert but he will not be a long term replacement.  Jacksonville also has a hole at guard which Robinson can play while Albert waits to get injured.

13.) Arizona Cardinals

Name
Pat Mahomes
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 2"
Weight
225
College
Texas Tech

This pick may be a stretch but Arizona has to be thinking about a quarterback after Palmer soon enough.  The depth behind Carson is weak.  They’ve shown a lot of interest in Mahomes and almost know he’ll be available at 13.

 14.) Philadelphia Eagles

Name
Dalvin Cook
Position
Running back
Height
5' 11"
Weight
206
Past Teams
Florida State

Dalvin Cook draws comparison to Edgrinn James, making the look of this pick appealing.  I find it attractive because this may be the solution to propelling Wentz to the next level.  Cook is devastating in the passing game, giving his quarterback that check down option every play as well as giving the play action a lot more honesty.

15.) Indianapolis Colts

Name
Reuben Foster
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 1"
Weight
240
College
Alabama

Reuben Foster is such a hit or miss prospect.  Coming into this process he was a no doubt top 5 pick, he then threw a fit at the combine, met with teams to smooth that out, and now is showing a lot football IQ.  Your guess to where he lands is as good as anyone’s but going 15 to the Colts would be great for them.  If he can show to be a good player off and on the field, this should provide a long term answer for them at any LB spot.

16.) Baltimore Ravens

Name
Haason Reddick
Position
Outside linebacker
Height
6' 1"
Weight
230

Reddick put on a clinic at the Senior Bowl, proving he can rush the passer.  Something fans may not know is, he walked onto Temple as a corner before switching to linebacker.  The ability to cover, stop the run, and rush the passer gives the Ravens a very versatile linebacker for a long time.

 17.) Washington Redskins

Name
Malik McDowell
Position
Defensive tackle, Defensive end
Height
6' 6"
Weight
280
College
Michigan State

McDowell is a guy that could go 1st round or fall to the 3rd all depending on how each team views him.  Washington however, should see great value and an explosive 3-4 defensive end in Malik.

18.) Tennessee Titans

Name
Mike Williams
Position
Wide receiver
Height
6' 3"
Weight
225
College
Clemson

Tennessee is sneaky good on offense but Mike Williams falling to them at 18 would be a match made in heaven.  We’ll see a lot of offensive talent drop in this draft due to the magnitude of good defensive players.

19.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Name
O.J. Howard
Position
Tight end
Height
6' 4"
Weight
255
College
Alabama

OJ Howard is one of the most interesting prospects in this draft.  He was under-utilized in Alabama’s offense but showed enough on tape to emerge as a top talent tight end.  He will help Winston in the pass game as well as the runningbacks in protection.

 20.) Denver Broncos

Name
Ryan Ramczyk
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 6"
Weight
315
College
Wisconsin

Tony Romo? It doesnt matter, no quarterback will prevail in Denver until they get some protection. It just so happens that my #1 offensive lineman is still on my board at pick 20.  Ryan Ramczyk is strong at the point of attack and has the ability to turn defenders to open up running lanes as well as create a pocket for his quarterback.

21.) Detroit Lions

Name
John Ross
Position
Wide receiver
Height
5' 11"
Weight
190
College
Washington

4.22 speed with Staffords arm? This may be an electric combination everyone would want to watch. Life after Megatron and taken a lot out of the Lions lately but adding a speedy John Ross could resurrect that mojo.

22.) Miami Dolphins

Name
Zach Cunningham
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 4"
Weight
230
College
Vanderbilt

Miami proved their offense can drive with Adam Gase as the coach. The outside of the pass rush, their defense was the weak point of the team.  In years past linebacker was always a glaring hole and Miami.

 23.) New York Giants

Name
Garett Bolles
Position
Offensive tackle
Height
6' 5"
Weight
300
College
Utah

After spending over $200 million on defense last year, this pick has the look of an offensive player. Ereck Flowers turned out to be a dumpster fire who contributed to their 29th ranked rushing offense.  Garrett Bolles should win that starting LT position without a competition. He comes from a bad past including drug use and anger but thankfully he found his way and turned all that negativity into a controlled sense of nastiness on the football field.

24.) Oakland Raiders

Name
Jarrad Davis
Position
Middle linebacker
Height
6' 1"
Weight
240
College
Florida

Reggie McKenzie is not scared to reach for a player in the draft. Something the fans may not know is he played LB at the University of Tennesse, something the fans do hopefully know is Oakland needs help at linebacker.  A lot of Raider fans that I talk with are hopeful for Reddick but with his rising stock, I’m sure he’ll go higher than 24.  Davis is an absolute thumper MLB.

25.) Houston Texans

Name
DeShaun Watson
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 2"
Weight
210
College
Clemson

Bill O’Brien is an old school coach who would love a player like Watson.  If they didnt have interest in getting another quarterback they would not have been in the Romo sweepstakes.

 26.) Seattle Seahawks

Name
Qunicy Wilson
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 1"
Weight
213
College
Florida

Ever since the Legion of Boom first got broke up, Seattle struggled to find a replacement at CB2.  Wilson doesnt get a lot of talking about in such a deep class but regardless he’s a BIG corner capable of being a #1 if the occasion arises.

27.) Kansas City Chiefs

Name
DeShone Kizer
Position
Quarterback
Height
6' 4"
Weight
230
College
Notre Dame

Chiefs fan can finally exhale as I moved a running back out of this spot.  Kizer may come as a shock but Andy Reid knows he needs more offensive production to get to the next level.

28.) Dallas Cowboys

Name
Jabrill Peppers
Position
Safety
Height
6' 0"
Weight
208
College
Michigan

Dallas seems to love superstars.  Peppers may not be the most polished safety in this class but with a guy possessing that much athleticism, its hard not to take a chance on him.  Barry Church is leaving town in free agency, leaving that hole starring Jabrill right in the face.

 29.) Green Bay Packers

Name
TJ Watt
Position
Outside linebacker
Height
6' 5"
Weight
245
College
Wisconsin

Green Bay simply loves pass rushers. Drafting the home state kid, with the last name of Watt would send a shock wave through Green Bay.

30.) Pittsburgh Steelers

Name
Marlon Humphrey
Position
Cornerback
Height
6' 1"
Weight
195
College
Alabama

With Humphrey still on the board this should be a no brainer for any team needing defensive help.

31.) Atlanta Falcons

Name
Charles Harris
Position
Defensive end
Height
6' 3"
Weight
255
College
Missouri

This draft class is stacked with pass rushers. Despite Vic Beasley racking up 15.5 sacks, we all watched Atlanta defense bog down to a seeming halt in the second half of the Super Bowl.  Charles Harris provides that depth and pass rushing DE/OLB that can help close out games.  He has great bend and get off to burn tackles into the 4th quarter.

32.) New Orleans Saints

via New England trade for Brandon Cooks
Name
Budda Baker
Position
Safety
Height
5' 10"
Weight
180
College
Washington

New Orleans needs to start building that defense in very way possible.  This would be a great start.
